Courtney and Micah Wilkinson

By one of Courtney's friends, printed in the March 2000 edition of the Nathan Hale High School, West Allis, WI school paper, called "The Patriot", in memory of what would have been Courtney's 16th birthday.

I'LL MEET YOU IN HEAVEN

In Memory of Courtney Wilkinson

I hear the screeching tires.
As the breaks hit the floor,
the thunder crashes, the lightening hits,
the rain begins to pour.

I could see you lying there,
as if you were asleep,
and now you're up in heaven,
and the Lord has you to keep.

They say that you're all right,
you're better off than before,
I tried to tell myself the same,
but my heart is way too sore.

They say it only gets easier,
but the truth is that it's not,
So promise me that when I come,
you'll be saving me a spot.

At least that way I know,
I will see you again some day,
and get to tell you everything,
I never got to say.

So if I die tomorrow,
or within the next few years,
Just knowing what awaits me,
there is nothing that I fear.

I will never ever stop loving you,
even though you are not here,
and I show how much I love you,
with each and every tear.

So I will grieve for a little while,
Because grieve is what I must,
But soon it will be comforted,
by nothing else but trust.

So goodbye for a little while,
or until we meet once more,
Or until I see your smiling face,
greeting me at heaven's door.

(we miss you Courtney)
